Universal Credit is in Islington from 20 June 2018

03/07/2018

Universal Credit is in Islington and it will be a big change from any benefits or tax credits that people get now, and they will need to be ready to manage their claim differently. From 20 June 2018 most new benefit claimants and some people who already receive benefits and whose circumstances change, will have to apply for Universal Credit.
It will replace six existing benefits – Housing Benefit, Child Tax Credit, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

Islington Council has developed a factsheet and a guide to advice for their staff and for partner organisations in the voluntary and community sector to help them support local residents to access advice and support about moving to Universal Credit if they need it.
If you know of any additional support provided in Islington which is not mentioned in these documents, or have any suggestions about information you would find useful, please email sara.cross@islington.gov.uk  with the details.
