Islington voluntary and community organisations publish local election manifesto

18/03/2014

Today Islington Community Network published their manifesto for the local election 2014.

The manifesto calls on whoever leads the Council after the election on May 22nd to support Islington’s voluntary and community organisations to continue to organise communities, provide services and enable local people to get involved in volunteering and community action.

Mike Sherriff, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action Islington said:

“These are difficult times for local residents and for Islington’s community organisations. At a time when statutory services are under pressure and people need more help , the role of local organisations has never been more important. Community organisations have come together through the Community Network to produce this manifesto, which says what we think the next Council should do to help community organisations to survive and flourish. We are urging all the political parties to support it.”
