Day 1 of Small Charity Week: Recognising the Power of Small Charities

Today marks the start of Small Charity Week 2026 (22–29 June), a national campaign dedicated to celebrating the incredible contribution that small charities and community organisations make across the UK.

This year’s theme, “Small charities. Big impact.”, recognises the vital role that small charities play in supporting people, strengthening communities, and creating positive change where it matters most. From tackling inequality and reducing isolation to supporting health, wellbeing, education, and the environment, small charities are often at the heart of their communities.

Here in Islington, small charities and grassroots organisations work tirelessly every day to support residents and respond to local needs. Their dedication, innovation, and commitment make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people across the borough.

Throughout Small Charity Week, Voluntary Action Islington will be highlighting resources, services, and opportunities designed to support local charities, community groups, and voluntary organisations. We are proud to stand alongside the organisations that make our communities stronger, more connected, and more resilient.

Join us this week as we celebrate the achievements, impact, and importance of small charities.

At Voluntary Action Islington, we understand that many small charities and community organisations operate with limited budgets and resources. Having access to affordable, professional workspace can make a significant difference, whether you’re meeting funders, working on projects, supporting volunteers, or simply looking for a productive space away from home.

As part of Small Charity Week, we are highlighting our Hot Desk Hire Service, designed to provide flexible and affordable workspace for charities, social enterprises, CICs, and community groups.
