Volunteers’ Week 2026 – a UK-wide celebration
Voluntary Action Islington and Volunteer Centre Islington are proud to celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2026, joining thousands of charities, community groups and voluntary organisations across the UK in recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make every day.
Taking place from Monday 1st June to Sunday 7th June 2026, Volunteers’ Week marks its 42nd year of celebrating the dedication, passion and commitment of volunteers. Since its launch in 1984, the campaign has provided an important opportunity to thank volunteers for the time, skills and energy they give to supporting communities and causes across the country.
Volunteers play a vital role in strengthening communities, supporting local organisations and improving the lives of countless people. Their contributions help charities and community groups deliver essential services, create opportunities and bring people together.
Throughout the week, organisations across the UK will host a variety of events and activities, including awards ceremonies, volunteer celebrations, coffee mornings and community gatherings. These events not only recognise volunteers’ achievements but also help strengthen connections between national organisations, local groups and the communities they serve.
Volunteers’ Week is led by the UK Volunteering Forum, a partnership between Volunteer Scotland, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland.
The UK Volunteering Forum said:
“Volunteers bring a richness to organisations across the country. There is no better time to recognise the diversity of our volunteers and celebrate the difference that volunteering makes than during Volunteers’ Week. Without volunteers, many charities simply could not function, with so many people giving their time and going above and beyond. The week is a chance for all of us to show just how vital they are to charities and communities everywhere.”
