Voluntary Action Islington is looking for Trustees

Who we are

Voluntary Action Islington (VAI) is a membership organisation with ambitious plans for the future.  One of our strategic objectives is to provide more diverse and inclusive opportunities and services for our local Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector organisations/networks and for our local residents. To achieve this, we are looking for four new trustees to join our Board, with a particular focus on young people aged 18 and above.

Who we would like to apply

We are keen to hear from candidates who have strong ties to the local community and represent its diversity, particularly people with lived experience and intersecting identities, including people from black, minority ethnic and migrant/refugee backgrounds, disabled people, and people of all ages, genders and sexualities. If you have local connections and have knowledge in any of the following areas: advocacy, policy, income generation and service delivery, particularly within small grassroots and user-led groups and organisations, we would love to hear from you.  We are also keen to hear from people who have knowledge of property management.

Trustee Pack & How to Apply

In this pack, you will find information about what being a trustee involves, what knowledge and experience we are looking for, what you, in turn, will gain from the experience, and what skills and attributes will fit the role. You don’t need to have experience as a trustee, and you don’t need to be an expert in everything we do – we offer an induction for new trustees and value the unique perspective each trustee brings to the board.

More information is available in the Trustee Pack, which you can find here.

The timetable for recruitment is as follows:

  • Deadline for applications: Monday, 14th April 2025 at 5pm
  • Interview dates are to be confirmed.
  • Successful candidates will be approved by the board and formally join at our AGM in November 2025.

We look forward to receiving your application form and equalities monitoring form via email at recruitment@vai.org.uk.

If you would like to know more before making an application

If you would like an informal chat regarding the VAI Trustees’ role, don’t hesitate to contact Navinder Kaur, CEO, via email at navinder.kaur@vai.org.uk
