Volunteer Managers’ Forum – DBS Workshop and Networking

Tuesday 18th October 2022, 11.00 – 12.30pm
Online

The Volunteer Managers’ Forum is aiming to be a collaborative space where we will be discussing all about volunteer management, share questions but also ideas that are already working within organisations dealing with volunteers.

We will divide this online event in 2 sections with our guest speaker and workshop first, followed by a version of our forum discussion:

  • DBS WORKSHOP: Kiran Rehal is the DBS Regional Outreach Adviser for Greater London. She will be delivering a workshop to explain the purpose of the DBS, the services and products it provides and how it plays a part in safer recruitment. The session will cover:
    – What types of DBS checks are available and their eligibility
    – DBS Update Service
    – What is regulated activity with adults and children
    – Barring and the duty to make a referral?
    – Q & A
  • FORUM: The topics will be varied, can be anything related to managing volunteers and will be decided by you on the day. Think about some real life examples in your organisation and bring them with you so we can help you identify what to do next. Look at some of the underlying causes of difficulties and consider strategies to prevent them. You will also meet (and network with) other volunteer managers in the break out rooms.
Come along to meet your peers and your local DBS Regional Outreach Advisor and learn more about how we can work together to enhance volunteer management.

This Zoom online session is suitable for anyone working with volunteers in Islington. Places are limited so book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If there are any questions you would like us all to discuss in the session please bring them with you or let us know in advance whilst registering.
