Our response to the Council’s consultation
Voluntary Action Islington has published its response to the Council’s consultation on support to local voluntary organisations. In it we argue that when planning for the future the Council should adhere to the commitments in the local Compact and the widely supported local voluntary sector election manifesto.
Continued financial support from the Council is vital if the full potential of local voluntary action is to be realised. We argue for a grants programme that:
* Supports networking and collaboration
* Targets support to enable engagement in community action by residents with the highest levels of need and biggest barriers to participation
* Funds independent support services to meet the needs of local organisations
* Provides help for organisations with recruiting and managing volunteers
