Recognition at Citizens Assembly
Last night, Wednesday 26th March, over 180 people from Islington Citizens member institutions, comprising churches, schools, mosques, gathered at Islington Art and Media School. In this Assembly, Voluntary Action Islington was considered the first CVS in the country to become a Living Wage Employer. We were pleased to receive an Award at the Islington Citizens Accountability Assembly to recognise this.
And why is the Living Wage Employer important? Because about 75% of employees reported increases in work quality as a result of receiving the Living Wage and 25% fall in absenteeism following the introduction of this into contracted-out services. Moreover, it is useful to mention that to become in Living Wage Employer give a lot of benefits to our organisation such as to become part of a strategic network of employers that support and promote the Living Wage or to have the opportunity to work with Living Wage Foundation on press coverage to promote our accreditation, among others.
