Zoom Talk: What have charities ever done for us?

April 14 @ 16:00 - 17:00

DSC Free Zoom Talks are back. Discover all that charities have done for us on Wednesday 14 April.

Have you ever been obliged to defend the value of the sector and the merit of your own charity to funders, government bodies and even sometimes to people within your own organisation?

This roundtable asks the question ‘What have charities ever done for us’ and will give you the tools to fend off the brickbats thrown by sector cynics and the evidence to help you gain the support of funders and partners. When the coronavirus pandemic took hold early in 2020, charities were among the first to respond to the resulting social and economic distress. But recent scandals and a more critical climate have overshadowed the vital role they play.

Knowing how to stand up for the sector has become even more prevalent after the past year. Having knowledge of vital case studies and interviews to show how important charities are to people and communities is not only for the benefit of the sector. It will also help you raise funds for your organisation and convince local authorities and central government of the sector’s value.

It has never been more important to give credit to the brilliant people who donate their time to manage and volunteer for charities to help people and communities across the UK. This is a vital talk for anyone invested in the future of the charity sector.

Format: Panel discussion followed by Q&A with the attendees.

Panel: Stephen Cook (Journalist and Author), Jay Kennedy (DSC) @JKENNEDYDSC and Danielle Walker Palmour, Director (Friends Provident Foundation) @DaniellePalmour
