Windrush Immigration Advice Training

07/09/2018 @ 10:00 - 11:30

This course will provide firstly a background of Windrush cases as to those people who by operation of law or by virtue of when they came to the UK and/or their relationship to Commonwealth citizens means they already have Indefinite Leave to Remain in the U.K.; and secondly the information about the Home Office’s policy in the aftermath of the Windrush scandal.

This workshop is part of the advice training programme organised by VAI and Islington Council, in partnership with the Islington Strategic Advice Partnership for front line workers who are not advice specialists but would like to increase their knowledge of key areas of advice. This programme is offering a range of advice training sessions. Details of each training session can be found here.

Who should attend

This course is aimed at the Community organisations and groups who are not specialists in an area but who want to understand a little more about the legal context and how they can use this to assist their own members/service users and/or help them make the most appropriate referrals.

Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to enable organisations to:

• Identify which types of cases fall into the Windrush policy;
