Strengthening Volunteering: Developing your volunteer programme

14/12/2016 @ 10:00 - 13:00

Volunteers play a crucial role in the non-profit sector often making significant changes to peoples lives and tackling issues in society. Taking on volunteers in a strategic way will ensure that you get the right volunteers and  that their role is in line with the organisation’s vision and mission. Often volunteers are taken on spontaneously and in reaction to a need. This course aims to give you a strong base for recruitment and utilising the time, skills and experience of the volunteer.

This course will consider:
•   the importance of putting together an effective volunteer plan for your organisation
•   understanding who needs to involved in developing the plan
•   what needs to be included in the plan
•   understanding the role volunteers can play in your organisation
•   defining what tasks you want the volunteer to do
•   resource allocation and capacity issues
•   measuring the value of volunteers
•   monitoring and evaluation
•   using existing toolkits
•   what impact can volunteering have on the individual, the organisation and service users

Online materials and sharing of resources using digital communications will be integral to the work of this project.

This workshop is for organisations that are part of the Strengthening Volunteering program. If you are interested of being part of the next cohort please contact Yvette Ellis
