Premises Masterclass: 2

09/02/2011 @ 09:45 - 15:00

Masterclass 2 – Letting your premises to others

These are high-level masterclasses aimed at people with a good general knowledge and understanding about leases, licences and legal saspects of running premises, who would benefit from the opportunity to explore premises issues in depth with highly experienced property professionals.  The classes will also be useful for people with experience of running or managing a community building in Islington, and especially for those experiencing problems with their lease or with other legal issues.  It is hoped that people will be prepared to share their experiences and problems in the confidential setting of these masterclasses.

Who is it for?
This course is suitable for managers of community buildings, management committee members, and anyone with responsibility for managing premises. As with the first masterclass, this is targeted at people who already have knowledge and experience of running community buildings.

What is it about?
The first masterclass concentrated on you as tenant: the second one focuses on how to let your premises to other organisations. It will look at leases, licences and hire agreements, and help you to get these right and avoid creating more rights of tenure than you planned, exposing your organisations to financial and other risks.

What will I get out of it?

  • An increased awareness of how to make your premises available to other organisations in ways that protect both them, and your own organisation
  • An increased awareness of how to foresee, resolve and avert current and future problems
  • Clear understanding of the difference between leases and licences, and the key terms and conditions that must be included in a licence
  • An increased ability to use your legal advisor more effectively, and the opportunity to discuss premises issues with experts

Free for all voluntary and community organisations in Islington.
For other organisations please see our pricing structure.

This course has been funded by Big Lottery Fund
