Immigration advice training for frontline workers

This course will provide an overview of immigration and asylum law including legal aid, entitlements and evidence collecting.

Immigration – what legal aid is still available for; working with clients who have No Recourse to Public Funds; Article 8 cases and what information is needed.

This workshop is part of the advice training programme organised by VAI and Islington Council, in partnership with the Islington Strategic Advice Partnership for front line workers who are not advice specialists but would like to increase their knowledge of key areas of advice. This programme is offering a range of advice training sessions. Details of each training session can be found here.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Community organisations and groups who are not specialists in an area but who want to understand a little more about the legal  context and how they can use this to assist their own members/service users and/or help them make the most appropriate referrals.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Enabling organisations to:

• Know which types of cases are still funded by legal aid;
• Journey of an immigration application and documents required for an immigration lawyer to know what leave an individual has;
• Help individuals to collect evidence which is relevant, particularly regarding Article 8/Article 3 claims;

What NRPF means and the potential help we can give individuals with this condition.

THE TRAINER
This course will be delivered by Amber Rowsell from Islington Law Centre.
