How to manage claims, legal threats and complaints in relation to charity and community buildings

21/05/2014 @ 10:00 - 13:00

Even the very best executives and charity trustees can be faced with the need to manage legal crises relating to charity and community buildings. Very often, mistakes may have their seeds in the distant past because of some oversight or failure to take appropriate advice, and in many cases new trustees and executives have inherited crises that have already manifested themselves, or have just begun to do so. This session, looks at ways of managing common crises relating to charity and community buildings, including some important do’s and don’ts, and touch on some common misunderstandings, the nature of legal threats and what to do about them.

Who should attend: This course is designed for people currently managing a community building. It will also be of benefit to trustees whose role includes premises management, and to advisers and development workers who support building managers on these aspects.

This Masterclass will be taught by highly experienced solicitors who specialise in the law relating to charities and charity premises. They work in the Social and Business Team at Russell Cooke Solicitors.

To secure your place on this course, please complete the application form and send it to Maria Gonzalez at by Wednesday 7th May.

This course is free to Islington organisations, but we are afraid that we have to make a charge of £20 for organisations based outside Islington. Please note that we can offer discounts where a number of training sessions are booked at the same time. All three masterclasses can be booked for a combined fee of £50 if booked at the same time, by 6th May.

If meeting the fee for a course is a problem for your organisation, please contact Janet Keighley by email at VAI to discuss this, and she will try to help
