Finding and taking on premises

20/10/2010 @ 09:45 - 13:00

Who is it for?
An introductory course for voluntary organisations that don’t have premises but are thinking of getting some for the first time. The course is also aimed at voluntary organisations which may have been trying to find premises for some time, but have been encountering difficulties.

What is it about?
The course will enable you to identify your premises needs – e.g. size; location; your own premises or could you share, and whether or not your organisation has the right organisational structure to take on premises. You will learn about how to find premises and where to look, you will gain an overview of the Islington property market and explore how to find funding for premises. The course will also cover renting and buying premises and, briefly, leases and licences.

What will I get out of it?

  • An increased insight into your organisation’s premises needs, and how these are best met
  • Ability to search for premises
  • Information around costing and funding
  • A basic level of understanding of licences, leases and freeholds, and the implications of these different ways of taking on premises.

Free for all voluntary and community organisations in Islington.
For other organisations please see our pricing structure.

This course has been funded by The Big Lottery Fund
