Education and school advice training for frontline workers

School admissions and exclusion appeals; helping a child who has special educational needs; tackling bullying.

This workshop is part of the advice training programme organised by VAI and Islington Council, in partnership with the Islington Strategic Advice Partnership for front line workers who are not advice specialists but would like to increase their knowledge of key areas of advice. This programme is offering a range of advice training sessions. Details of each training session can be found here.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Community organisations and groups who are not specialists in an area but who want to understand a little more about the legal context and how they can use this to assist their own members/service users and/or help them make the most appropriate referrals.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
To enable participants to prepare and conduct their own appeals for school admissions and exclusions; to advise parents/carers on how to obtain help and support for children with additional learning needs; how to get schools and local authorities to take action when a child is being bullied.

THE TRAINER
This course will be delivered by Suzanne Fraser from Islington Law Centre
