EC1: Managing income and expenditure

Who is it for?
This is a basic course for all those who are involved in maintaining the financial records of their organisation – from those with very little knowledge or no experience of bookkeeping to those on the management committee who want a better understanding of how things work on the ground.

What is it about?
This course will help you to identify the essential features of a basic bookkeeping system and learn how to identify and record different transactions that will help to you to better manage your organisation’s income and expenditure. In addition to this, you will learn how to set up and maintain a robust petty cash system. You will also learn how to maintain a basic cashbook and you are welcome to bring in cashbooks from your own organisation in order to compare them with model materials.

What will I get out of it?

  • An understanding of how to maintain a record of money coming in and out of your organisation
  • Knowledge of the types of transactions that will be encountered and how to enter them
  • The ability to enter transactions and balance one month of a basic cashbook

Cost
Free for all voluntary and community organisations in EC1.
For other organisations please see our pricing structure.

EC1 training is prioritised for EC1 organisations, but there are some places allocated for Islington organisations outside of EC1.
