Demystifying funding strategies

Who is it for?
This course is for management committee members, staff or volunteers who are fairly new to fundraising and wish to improve their funding situations by planning their funding activities and increasing their sources of income.

What is it about?
This course will focus on how to identify the most appropriate funding bodies for your organisation, and how to devise a realistic funding strategy to help prevent crisis fundraising. Basic information will be provided about a range of different types of funding, such as grants, donations, trading and commissioning. Part of the session will be spent doing a draft fundraising strategy using our simple model template. Participants are also welcome to book a session with Voluntary Action Islington to use FunderFinder and other library resources.

What will I get out of it?

  • A simple first draft of a funding strategy for your organisation
  • Knowledge of how to identify and access appropriate funders for your group
  • An understanding of how to diversify your funding
  • Knowledge of a variety of sources of funding and skills to prevent crisis fundraising
