Confidently involving disabled volunteers

24/11/2010 @ 13:45 - 17:00

Afternoon session
this training is also available as a morning session

Who is it for?
Many people have disabilities that may be visible or invisible, physical or mental, that may prevent them from getting paid work. These people have an extraordinary wealth of skills, experience and knowledge to offer to the voluntary and community sector. This course is for those who are responsible for volunteers in their organisations who want to recruit disabled volunteers more effectively, or simply want to find out more about the many benefits of involving disabled volunteers.

What is it about?
This course will help volunteer managers who are already aware of the benefits of involving disabled volunteers, such as much longer term retention rates, to get extra information around recruiting, supporting, involving and developing volunteers who have disabilities. Managers and those responsible for volunteers will be better able to ensure that their organisation is fully inclusive.

What will I get out of it?

  • Increased confidence in recruiting, supporting and retaining volunteers with disabilities
  • An overview of legal responsibilities and suggestions for best practice
  • The opportunity to ensure that your organisation is fully inclusive and representative of the community

Free for all small voluntary and community organisations in Islington.
For other organisations please see our pricing structure.
