The rewards of being a trustee on the board of a local voluntary organisation/nursery

As a trustee at a local nursery/or a charity you will have a great opportunity to contribution to your local community and help to improve people’s lives and change the community for better.

Being a trustee is rewarding and a great challenge. It would provide you with an opportunity to apply the skills and experience you have gained to a totally new environment. As a volunteer trustee, you could help to shape the local environment.

It will also give you an opportunity to learn new skills, and it could help you to gain:
• New skills for employment
• Management skills
• Leadership skills
• Working as team
• Communications and social contact skills
• Understanding good governance
• New skills about the sector in which you are involved as a trustee, i.e. childcare, early years education, environment, etc.
• Being part of a governance board, the new skills can help to enhance your CV and for you to know more about the not for-profit sector that could help you with a career change.

There will also be an opportunity for you attend a training workshop on Trustees Roles and Responsibilities on Monday 20th October 2014 or Friday 16th January 2015.
