8-week Mindfulness Course

  • 8-week Mindfulness Course on Zoom
  • 3rd November to 22nd December
  • Introductory Session: 27th October, 10.30am to 12 noon
  • Every Wednesday: 10.30am to 12 noon on Zoom
  • FREE – Open to Islington residents only
  • You must be able to access and use Zoom to join the course. Support to access Zoom is provided.  Limited spaces are available.

Mindfulness is a very simple form of meditation. It teaches people how to be present in the moment and break away from negative thought patterns that exacerbate stress, anxiety and depression. Giving people the tools to replace negative though patterns with positive.

A typical meditation consists of focusing your full attention on your breath as it flows in and out of your body. Focusing on each breath in this way allows you to observe your thoughts as they arise in your mind and, little by little, to let go of struggling with them.

Mindfulness is about observation without criticism; being compassionate with yourself. Over time, mindfulness brings about long-term changes in mood and levels of happiness and wellbeing. Scientific studies have shown that mindfulness not only prevents depression, but that it also positively affects the brain patterns underlying day-to-day anxiety, stress, depression and irritability so that when they arise, they dissolve away again more easily.
